Somber moment from our time in the city– walking around the site of One World Trade Center.
When I was teaching, it always struck me by how my students were so young to not really have any recollection of 9/11. I was in middle school when it happened. It’s the sort of event that forever shifts the way one generation experiences the world, and it’s strange being pretty much among the youngest that can remember the world beforehand.
We recover from the tragedies of our lives and our world via the bonds we build with others. Whenever terrible things happen, the response I find most needed is the one that rebuilds and invites others in to be a part of the process.
