Foodspotting No. 09 – Börek

If you ever find yourself in Astoria, Oregon (or anywhere near Astoria, really) please do yourself the favor and visit Drina Daisy. Bosnian restaurants aren’t exactly common in the United States and this one does a great job of presenting the cuisine to a mostly unfamiliar audience.

Börek has variations that can be found in Turkish, Greek, Albanian, an other Mediterranean Cuisines. Savory minced meat cooked in onions and mild peppers makes for a good filling to be wrapped in layers of phyllo dough for a great crisp. I loved it and now wish Bosnian food was much more common.

We also had a great salad of greens, some rose infused mineral water, and Ajar- a fantastic roasted red bell pepper tapenade.
